Memorial Day weekend

This was such a fun weekend. For starters, I got to spend four wonderful days with my family and awesome friends. I really didn't want it to end.
We started the weekend with a party at the Thomas'. It was a fondue/cocktail party with just the adults. It was some awesome food and fellowship and we even had a few brave souls play some silly games in front of everyone.
Here are the wonderful couples we hang out with:

Fito and Maria (Maria might kill me if she finds out I posted this picture. Yes, she does realize she has something in her teeth.)
The host's, Andrew and Juanita.
Brad and Lindsay (and Tilly)

Saturday

Saturday afternoon we went to the beach with Mark and Megan. It was a great time. Joe liked the water at first, but soon as it whooshed up on him, he was done with that.

I am pretty sure he had this shovel the entire time we were at the beach.

Light snack before hitting the waves.

I didn't put the next two pics for my expression, but Joe's ;-).
In this one he is like, 'I don't know, she's crazy.'

Monday

We ended the weekend at Marnie and Poppy's. We had some hamburgers and some delicious sides. We pulled out a pool for the little one's and of course, there was a little hot box.

Spray Park

Okay, you ask "Linds, where did he get those bumps and bruises from?" This time, well, I should say, once again, he fell and bonked his face on the cement. But, this time he was crawling from the rock area onto the cement. I have no idea how you can scrape your face that bad when you are already so close to the ground.

Since I haven't posted that many pictures of our time in Dallas.....lol, who am I kidding? I was just sent these pictures and thought they were worth sharing.

Having a baby....

Having a baby is like having a puppy. Everyday they do something new and cute that makes you laugh. Then you try to teach them to do the new trick on command. You practice and practice, then you have a get together and show all their new tricks off.
This week, I noticed Joe making this super cute face and every time he would do it, I would say, "Oh, is that your silly face." Then it got to where I would just say, "Do your silly face," and he would do it.
So, here is my baby, not my puppy, struttin' his silly face and smile (he can do that on command too....however, they practically are the same face, but I can tell a difference.)

Mother's Day

After we arrived back in the great city of Houston, we got back to our routine pretty quickly. Then yesterday I realized that I did't make a post for or about Mother's Day.
Mine was great. My husband was kind enough to share Joe and I with my family by allowing us to go to Dallas for a week. I had a great time and I am sure Joe felt the same.
Jeff bought me a new backpack/diaper bag before my trip and this was supposed to be my only gift. But, if you know Jeff, he is always going to spoil me. When he arrived in Dallas, he brought a couple of gifts: 2 seasons of Scrubs and some of my favorite kind of headphones for my ipod. He also went and had my A&M diploma framed. I was so excited about all the gifts. Scrubs is my second most favorite show now and I am so anxious to see my $40,000 diploma in a glass case.
But most importantly I got to see my mama on the most special day of the year. I had recently been telling a friend that it is a lot of work to get up there and not much fun leaving Jeff, but the look on my mom's face every morning when she gets Joe makes all the hassle, money and time seem so small.
It was great to see my parents as usual and it was really hard to leave, especially since it was Mother's Day.
My dad, my sister and I all went in on a gift for my mom, which I think she really likes. But the best gift came from my dad when we were eating lunch. Instead of getting a card or writing a letter just to her, he wanted to share a little bit about how she has always been an amazing mother. He wanted Josh and Jeff to know where she came from, how they met and the sacrifices she always made for our family. It was absolutely perfect and he scored big with everyone. Just some things he said were how she would work 8-10 hr days at the hospital, have dinner every single night for us, clean the house, help us with homework and tuck us in every night. She was a woman of dedication and strength. I stay home full time and am worn out about 6pm, and I could never imagine coming home and having to help two kids with homework.
She also made sure we made it to all our soccer, softball, and basketball practices. She would actually stay and cheer us on even though she would have a thousand things to do at home. One thing she always did, and Jeff thinks I was so lazy and rude for making her do this, but after every soccer practice, she would kindly remove my soccer socks. What!?!? What's wrong with that? I was sore and tired. She always did it without complaining or grumbling. I could go on and on about my mom, but I will let you get on with your day.
I just wanted to share how wonderful and perfect my Mother's Day was. I hope God and your family were able to bless each and every Mother out there.

Some videos

This week my mom has shot some videos of Joseph. Two from the museum and one of him saying some words.

Tuesday night my sister came over and had dinner with Joe and I. She asked me what words he can say and I started naming a few off the top of my head. After I did that, I thought, 'I am going to write all the words he can say and see how many there are." So I did and then Thursday night my mom filmed Joseph repeating the words. I forgot two words that he can say:Please and Baby. He has said some other words, like: Poppy, Marnie, June, Jack, Car, Truck and Tractor, but doesn't repeat these particular words consistently, so those words aren't on the 'list.' Some other words he has sounds for: Elmo 'Mo', Grammy 'Amamama' (something like that), More 'Ma'. Etc. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

Beautiful Day

Today my mom and I took Joseph to Harry Meyers Park in Rockwall. It was a gorgeous day. We first took him to the spray park which was just a slight bit chilly. Joseph lasted about, ummm, 15 minutes. After the spray park, we headed over to the play area, where he was able to do one of his favorite things...climb. After we played, we went and had a picnic lunch. We ended the wonderful day by going to the Concert on the Lake. It was some great weather, music and fellowship.
